Description
The Black Tomato, or 'indigo', is a new variety of tomato. The fruit is black, with a purplish-red hue on the outside and very juicy on the inside. Black in foods isn't usually very appealing, but black tomatoes are not only delicious but also highly rich in antioxidants.
What's new isn't just their color, but also that the new black tomatoes are healthier and bring powerful benefits to our bodies.
The intention of this creation was to increase the nutritional characteristics of common tomato varieties through the antioxidant capacities typical of the black-skinned fruit.
Black tomatoes have the extraordinary ability to help the health of those who consume them. The color of the fruit's skin is due precisely to the action of the antioxidant, which can be found naturally in various vegetables and fruits. During the ripening process, tomatoes change from a bluish-purple hue to completely black.
It has the potential to help combat conditions such as diabetes, obesity, and even cancer. According to the publication, the fruit is rich in anthocyanin, a powerful antioxidant that is also responsible for the pigmentation of tomato skin.
