But rather because this succulent fruit, which belongs to the Passiflora genus, comes from the passion flower plant.

The purple passion fruit is from New Zealand, and the yellow variety is from Hawaii. Both have a similar flavor, but the purple variety tends to be less acidic and juicier than the yellow.
