Description

Common mint, known scientifically as Mentha spicata, is a medicinal and aromatic plant with properties that help treat digestive problems, such as indigestion, flatulence, nausea, or vomiting, for example. Mint also has calming and expectorant effects.

One of the main uses of mint tea is to reduce intestinal gas. It is a great home remedy for flatulence, as this medicinal plant has antispasmodic properties, reducing bowel movements and preventing gas formation and pain.

Mint is rich in vitamins A and C, and minerals such as iron, calcium, phosphorus, and potassium, and primarily possesses antioxidant and immune-boosting properties. Therefore, mint serves to:

Relieve intestinal gas, as this plant has an antispasmodic effect, capable of reducing intestinal cramps and digestive changes, and antiemetic, relieving nausea and vomiting;

Facilitate digestion and reduce heartburn, by activating bile production and improving the function of the digestive system;

Help relieve fever, especially when associated with ginger, as it stimulates circulation;

Fight headache, as it is a vasodilator and capable of activating circulation;

Reduce symptoms of stress, anxiety and agitation for having tranquilizing effects;

Act as an antiseptic, capable of hindering the growth of bacteria and amoebas in the digestive tract.

Furthermore, mint helps in the treatment of flu and colds, as it contains ascorbic acid, menthol and tinol in its composition, having an expectorant and decongestant action.

Drinking mint tea frequently improves the functioning of the entire body. It can be used as a seasoning in meat dishes such as goat or pork, and also as a flavoring in soups or even in fruit juices such as lemon or pineapple, for example.
