Description
The avocado, also known as the avocado pear, is the fruit of the avocado tree, native to South America. Although it requires a subtropical climate to thrive, its consumption in Portugal is now possible year-round due to the existence of plantations in the south of the country. This fruit has generated a lot of curiosity among consumers due to its nutritional properties, and consumption has increased. Given its nutritional composition, avocados can be incorporated into a variety of diets, from low-calorie diets for weight loss to high-calorie diets for weight gain or adapted to sports.
Benefits
Avocados are known for being mostly composed of monounsaturated fats, which are healthy fats for the body and produce several health benefits. Among these are the benefits of reducing cholesterol and triglyceride levels, proving to be a good cardiovascular protector.
Avocado is a fruit nutritionally rich in vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A, C, B6, and E. These vitamins play a role in immune function, protecting the body against external agents, aiding bone development, participating in collagen synthesis in the skin and tissues, and containing antioxidant properties.
In terms of the minerals present in avocados, we also highlight Potassium and Magnesium, which play important roles in the body, such as metabolism and blood pressure control.
How to consume avocado?
