Description

Description

Broa is a type of cornbread traditionally made in Portugal.

It is made with a mixture of flours and corn and wheat or, particularly, corn and rye (in the case of Avintes bread), and yeast.

Broa usually has a dense crumb and a thick, crispy crust.

It's a regional product, typical of the area, whose authenticity can be confirmed by its shape, heavy appearance, cracked crust, flavor, and texture. Its origins cannot be precisely established, as it is part of the local population's traditional diet. Wheat is practically no longer grown in this region, with corn being the cereal par excellence used in baking.

Ingredients
